Gorakhpur: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials of public works department on Sunday to expedite road construction projects in Gorakhpur and Azamgarh divisions, stressing that all work must be completed within the stipulated timeframe without compromising on quality.Reviewing ongoing and proposed infrastructure projects at the Annexe Building here, the chief minister sought detailed updates from senior officials on progress of road and bridge construction across both divisions. He instructed authorities to launch a mission-mode drive to accelerate construction activities and ensure that projects scheduled before the monsoon are completed on time.Yogi said road projects proposed by public representatives should be taken up on priority and directed officials to secure all required approvals by the end of Jun and begin foundation-laying activities immediately thereafter. Adequate resources should be arranged before work starts to avoid interruptions, he added.The chief minister also asked PWD officials to prepare a priority-based road development plan for all Assembly constituencies in Gorakhpur and Azamgarh divisions under the 2026-27 action plan. He stressed timely completion of tendering and regular monitoring by divisional commissioners and district magistrates.Emphasising strict supervision, Yogi directed officials to conduct field inspections and strengthen online monitoring through technology. He also reviewed progress of the under-construction Mohan Setu in Deoria and ordered faster execution of the project while ensuring safety standards for workers. He instructed officials to closely monitor contractors undertaking projects at price below-tender rates.
