Kanpur: A 22-year-old man, distraught over the death of fish in his aquarium, allegedly died by suicide by hanging himself in the Cantonment area, police said.According to police, the family did not have an inverter, and on Friday morning, a prolonged power outage caused the aquarium’s air pump to stop, leading to the death of the fish.Police said their death deeply upset him, and he became severely distressed before locking himself inside a room.On Saturday morning, his body was found hanging in his room.Cantt police station in-charge Arvind Rai said the youth’s father told police that the deceased was deeply attached to the fish he kept at home and cared for them devotedly.Rai further said that prima facie it appears to be a case of suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further investigation is underway.
