Vadodara: Two girls from Vadodara have been picked up for the India Women Under-19 teams that will play against Sri Lanka in Chennai and Puducherry this month. Vidhi Parmar has been selected in the one-day squad, while Maitri Maniar is a member of the T20 team.“I am happy to have been selected in the Indian team,” Parmar said. The 17-year-old is a left-arm spinner and right-arm batter who plays in the middle order. “I began playing at the age of 11,” Parmar added. She has played in Under-15, Under-19 and Under-23 teams of T20 and one-day in Baroda and attended a high performance National Cricket Academy camp.

Maniar, who is an all-rounder, said that she will give her best performance in the T20 tournament against Sri Lanka. “I wanted to join sports and hence began playing cricket at the age of seven in Navsari,” 16-year-old Maniar said. Both Parmar and Maniar, who play for the Baroda team, said that their coaches Bobby Badola and Hina Patel mentored them well for this big series.Maniar was the captain of the Under-15 BCA team and she has also played for U-19 and U-19 Baroda teams. Maniar has attended the high performance NCA camp.
