Two sarus cranes die after coming in contact with high-tension wire

Times News NetworkKanpur: Two state birds, sarus cranes, died after coming in contact with a high-tension power line, while one sarus crane was seriously injured in the Bharthana police station area of Etawah.According to information, on Friday, while farmers were transplanting paddy seedlings in their fields near the Nagla Mulu canal track in the Bharthana police station area, a flock of sarus cranes was passing near the fields. Suddenly, three sarus cranes came in contact with the high-tension power line passing overhead. Two sarus cranes died on the spot due to the electric shock, while one sarus crane was seriously injured and flew away from there.The farmers informed the forest department about the incident. As soon as the information was received, a team of the forest department reached the spot and took the dead sarus cranes into their custody.Forest caretaker Mahavir Yadav said that the last rites of both the dead state birds were performed respectfully with proper rituals. An attempt was made to catch the injured sarus crane, but it escaped from the team’s grasp.
