A viral social media post has brought attention to a Delhi Uber driver who chose purpose over comfort. Although he earns ₹80,000 every month from rental income, the heart attack survivor continues driving long hours, determined to prove that his health setback did not make him “useless.”
The story was shared on Instagram by content creator Aastha Seth, who said a casual conversation during her ride turned into one of the most memorable interactions she has had.
According to Seth, the driver hails from Samastipur in Bihar and was previously employed at a relative’s factory in Delhi. However, after suffering a heart attack last year, his life took an unexpected turn. She claimed that his relative believed he was no longer capable of performing physically demanding tasks and asked him to leave the factory.
Recalling the conversation, Seth wrote, “This guy is from Samastipur, Bihar. Earlier he was working at a relative’s factory in Delhi, where he earned good, but last year he suffered from heart attack and his relative told him that now he’s of no use as he can’t do any work that requires strength and kicked him out of his factory. But this guy didn’t stop there.”
She further revealed that the driver already owns two flats in a residential society near Noida Electronic City, collectively valued at around ₹80 lakh, which generate approximately ₹80,000 in monthly rent.
“Btw just for the plot, he has 2 flats worth ₹80 lacs in a society near Noida Electronic City. He gets ₹80k rent from those flats every month. He had the choice and still has the choice to stop, rest and stay at home. But he chooses to work as an Uber driver,” she wrote.
Despite having a steady source of passive income, the driver continues to work from 10 am to 10 pm, earning an additional ₹50,000 every month. According to Seth, his motivation goes far beyond financial needs.
“He works from 10am to 10pm, earning 50k extra every month, just to show those people that his heart attack doesn’t make him useless or worthless. He has 2 daughters for whom he has saved the 2 flats. He has ancestral properties in Bihar. But he still chooses to work,” she shared.
The creator said the brief interaction changed her perspective on life. She admired the man’s humility, noting that he never boasted about his achievements or struggles but simply narrated his journey with a smile.
“This guy still chooses to smile. And I love the fact that he’s not boasting anything here, he is just sharing. This 5 mins interaction with this man made me stop and think so much about life. He’s such an inspiration for all of us who just need one reason to stop and quit,” she added.
The post quickly resonated with social media users, many of whom praised the driver’s resilience and unwavering determination.
One user commented, “Stories like these put things into perspective. They remind us how privileged we are, encourage us to be thankful for what we have, and motivate us to work harder every single day. 🙌”

Echoing similar sentiments, another commented, “Ppl Normally Abuse or Stereotype “Bihari ” But Thing is The Most Hardworking State & Humans, Despite Facing Worst Tragedies, Corruption, and Hardships, the most hardworking state manages to persevere. Loyal to the Core. Intelligent AF. Whole Heart Givers. Self Reliant. & What Not. Still Mostly Got Abused in Each & Every State Just Because of their Simple Living & Hardworkship. 💔”
