Kanpur: Cloud cover brought respite from the intense heat in the city on Saturday, but high humidity kept residents grappling with sultry weather conditions throughout the day.The city remained under cloudy skies since morning, with sunshine appearing intermittently for brief periods. As a result, the maximum temperature dropped to 34.6°C, 1.6°C lower than Friday’s reading. The minimum temperature also declined and was recorded at 26.8°C.Despite the fall in temperature, humidity remained high at 81%, making the weather uncomfortable.Moderate easterly winds blowing at 4.3 kmph failed to provide much relief, as the moisture-laden air prevented sweat from drying. No rainfall was recorded in the city during the last 24 hours despite persistent cloud cover.According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), weather conditions are likely to remain conducive to rainfall over the next 24 hours across the Kanpur division, including Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Etawah, Farrukhabad, Kannauj and Auraiya. The department has forecast partly to generally cloudy skies with the possibility of scattered rain or light showers accompanied by thunderstorms.Dr S.N.
