Nagpur: Amid a war of words between Congress and BJP over the engagement of booth-level assistants (BLAs) in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, district collector Kumar Ashirwad on Friday clarified that political parties are free to deploy as many BLAs as they want.“There is no restriction on engaging BLAs. Political parties can appoint them to assist booth level officers (BLOs) in their work,” he said.Ashirwad said the district administration has been in constant coordination with political parties and has created a dedicated WhatsApp group to address their concerns promptly. With just eight days left for the SIR exercise to conclude, the collector appealed to voters to submit their enumeration forms at the earliest instead of waiting until the last day.He also flagged the issue of incomplete addresses in several parts of the city, which has hampered BLOs during door-to-door verification. “In many cases, the address merely mentions areas such as Amravati Road or Civil Lines. Without a plot number or the name of the apartment or housing society, it becomes difficult to locate the residence,” he said.Sources said nearly 800 such pockets have been identified across the city.
