PMCH performs rare surgery on 13-year-old

Patna: Doctors at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) successfully performed a complex tendon transfer surgery on a 13-year-old boy from Saran who had been dragging his right leg for the past two years after a wild boar attack damaged his common peroneal nerve.The Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) carried out a Tibialis Posterior Tendon Transfer Surgery on July 30 under the leadership of Dr Arun Kumar. The procedure was performed free of cost under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.Doctors said the surgery was successful and the child is recovering well. They added that the procedure is expected to significantly improve his mobility and enhance his chances of regaining a near-normal gait.
