Ballari: Police on Friday arrested a 28-year-old man for allegedly murdering his wife and seven-month-old daughter at Andral village in the district.The accused, identified as Honnuruppa, allegedly killed his wife Rajeshwari, 24, and their seven-month-old daughter Ashwini with a hammer. The crime is believed to have taken place between 8.30pm and 9.30pm on Thursday.The APMC Yard police registered a case under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, Suresh.Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been married for six years and had three children. Police said the accused allegedly committed the crime due to suspicions about his wife’s character and doubts over the paternity of the infant.“The accused has been taken into custody and the weapon used in the crime has been seized,” said SP Suman D Pennekar. “We are expediting the filing of the charge sheet to ensure a swift trial and conviction,” she added.
