A Bihar man summed up Bengaluru in one line: people complain about the traffic, rent and loneliness, yet somehow they never want to leave the city.

His take on Bengaluru’s biggest attraction sparked a debate online
Bengaluru is known for its traffic, rising rents and busy lifestyle. Even so, many people who move to the city end up staying much longer than they originally planned. A man from Bihar recently shared his thoughts on why the city continues to hold on to people despite its everyday problems.
His remarks started a discussion online, with many residents saying they felt exactly the same way.
He Shared Why People Stay
In a video posted on Instagram, Ankit spoke about the unique pull Bengaluru seems to have on those who live there.
“This is Bangalore. People come here, but after coming, they don’t want to leave this place. Even if they are going through loneliness, even if they are going through anxiety, even if they have to deal with the crazy traffic, they still want to stay here. Even if more than half of our salary goes into rent for these big apartments. It’s not like IT companies aren’t there in Gurgaon, Delhi, Hyderabad, Mumbai, or Chennai, they are there, brother. But the weather here doesn’t let us go anywhere else.”
According to Ankit, while job opportunities exist in many major cities across India, Bengaluru’s pleasant weather is what keeps many people from leaving.
Many Residents Agreed
His observation resonated with several social media users who said they could relate to what he was saying.
A user wrote, “This is true.” Another commented, “Three to four decades ago, Mumbai was the city people flocked to in pursuit of their dreams. Now, that role belongs to Bengaluru.”
Many others echoed similar views. Comments like “I absolutely agree with you,” “Yes yes completely agree,” and “This post really resonates with me” appeared under the video.
For several users, Bengaluru remains a city that offers a mix of career opportunities, comfort and a lifestyle they have grown attached to over time.
Others Highlighted The Downsides
At the same time, not everyone agreed with Ankit’s take. A user wrote, “Give us work from home, and 80% of outsiders will return to their hometowns. Bengaluru’s weather is overrated.”
Another person said, “Traffic and rent make life very difficult here, but somehow people still stay.”
Some users were even more critical. A comment read, “Nonsense, majority of footpaths are broken and people park their vehicles on walkway. I’m glad I left this toxic city.”
