Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday urged the people of Punjab to ensure that Bhagwant Mann remains Chief Minister after the 2027 Assembly elections, saying the good work being carried out by his government should not be allowed to get discontinued.

The ex-Delhi CM said, “We have done so much work in five years, but there is still a lot more that remains to be done. We must make Mann Chief Minister again.”

He made the appeal while leading a roadshow alongside CM Mann and other senior AAP figures in Mohali to thank voters for the party’s victory in the recently held municipal corporation polls there.

Punjab was “pushed towards ruin during the regimes of the Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP and Congress, when drugs spread across the state,” Kejriwal said while addressing the gathering.

He asserted that CM Mann was tireless in his efforts to pull the state out of the adverse atmosphere and put it back on the path of progress.

The AAP supremo urged people to strengthen the transformation, saying that they must not allow the good work being done in Punjab by the Mann-led government to come to a halt.

MANN GOVT ENJOYS PUBLIC AFFECTION: KEJRIWAL

Kejriwal further said that no government in the state’s history got as much affection and public support after four-and-a-half years in office as the AAP government enjoys presently.

He claimed that anti-incumbency used to be so strong during the previous governments that people would not even allow ruling party leaders to enter villages after a similar period in power.

“When they went among the public, people would stand with shoes in their hands, ready to hit them. Such were the wrongdoings committed during their tenure,” he said, referring to previous regimes involving Shiromani Akali Dal, BJP, and Congress.

He listed Mann government’s works, including free electricity, health insurance cover worth Rs 10 lakh, and water reaching canal channels in villages.

Kejriwal also called on the people to campaign in their respective localities. “You must go to your streets, neighbourhoods and villages and tell everyone that this time Bhagwant Mann must be made Chief Minister again with a massive majority. We have to secure an overwhelming mandate. The remaining work must also be completed,” he said.

CM MANN TARGETS TRADITIONAL PARTIES

CM Mann, too, launched a scathing attack on traditional political parties, saying they had ruled Punjab for decades while protecting each other’s interests.

“For years, these parties looted Punjab and worked through an understanding that ensured power remained within their circle. Earlier, there were only two options before the people and both treated power like a game of musical chairs. They exploited public sentiments and plundered the wealth of Punjab. Today, the people have embraced the broom and cleansed the political system of the state,” the Chief Minister said.

Taking aim at political heavyweights from rival parties, he said that leaders such as Sukhbir Singh Badal, Amrinder Singh Raja Warring, and Partap Singh Bajwa cannot be seen among the public any more as the masses are standing firmly with the AAP government.

“The people have repeatedly expressed their support and the opposition has suffered politically because the wise people of Punjab have rejected them,” CM Mann said, adding that truth eventually prevails and falsehood loses its strength.
