Yathindra backs RSS registration, calls for transparency
Yathindra Siddaramaiah said there cannot be separate rules for different organisations

Mysuru: Minister Yathindra Siddaramaiah on Tuesday defended home minister Priyank Kharge’s remarks advocating the registration of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), asserting that all organisations in the country must function within the framework of the law.Speaking to reporters here, Yathindra said there cannot be separate rules for different organisations and that the same laws apply equally to everyone. Referring to the RSS, he alleged that the organisation actively works in support of the BJP and questioned the sources of funding for its properties and assets across the country.“The law of the land is the same for everyone. If an organisation owns properties worth crores of rupees, there should be transparency and accountability,” the minister said, backing Kharge’s demand for the registration of the RSS.He further said registration of organisations is essential to ensure transparency in their functioning and reiterated that no individual or organisation is above the law. Criticising the RSS ideology, he said the organisation should not be equated with the nation and maintained that the activities of any organisation must be subject to legal scrutiny. On the proposed Bidadi Township project, he said the project was essential for the region’s development. He claimed that nearly 80% of the affected farmers had agreed to part with their land after the govt enhanced the compensation package. While acknowledging opposition from a section of landowners, he accused the Janata Dal (Secular) of politicising the issue for electoral gains and maintained that the govt would continue discussions with stakeholders to ensure the project’s smooth implementation.
