8-year-old boy dies after being hit by motorcycle

Patna: An eight-year-old Class II student was killed after a speeding motorcycle hit him in Punjabi Colony under the Gardanibagh police station area of Patna on Sunday morning. The deceased, Utkarsh Kumar, was the only son of Sanoj Kumar and studied at a private school in Raghunath Tola.Utkarsh was cycling near his home when a motorcycle carrying three young men allegedly hit him from behind. The impact threw the child onto the road and dragged him for some distance before he became unconscious.The three riders also fell after the collision. Locals took the injured child to a private hospital, where doctors referred him to IGIMS. However, Utkarsh died before reaching the hospital. One rider fled, while the other two were caught by locals and later arrested.Traffic station officer Brajesh Kumar Chauhan said Vishal Kumar, who was allegedly riding the motorcycle, and one of his friends had been arrested. Vishal is a resident of Newari Makhdumpur in Jehanabad and currently lives on New Alkapuri Road No. 9. Police are searching for the third rider.The motorcycle reportedly had a police sticker. Utkarsh’s father runs a shop in Chitkohra market. He said his son was born after nearly 20 years of prayers and rituals.
