Those undermining democracy must be told to quit, says TPCC chief

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Sunday said those undermining the Constitution and democracy must be told to “quit”, drawing a parallel between the Quit India Movement and the present political situation. He added that Gen Z should understand why India fought for Independence and study the sacrifices of thousands who lost their lives and everything they had. Goud also accused some forces of attempting to erase the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru.Goud said democracy ultimately derives its strength from the people and even the most powerful leaders have to bow before the electorate. He said the Congress would continue its fight to protect democracy without discrimination on the basis of caste.Taking on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), Goud said the previous govt had little to show despite being in power for 10 years. He advised BRS leaders to engage in constructive criticism instead of making false claims on employment.Goud said the development and welfare programmes being implemented by the Congress govt would bring visible change in Telangana and help the party return to power in the next election. He also said the party would not forget the hard work and sacrifices of its workers. On electoral rolls, Goud alleged that voters were being deleted during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. He said the Congress was working to prevent the deletion of eligible voters and protect their right to vote.
