Woman beaten to death over land dispute in Etawah

Times News NetworkKanpur: A 41-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death on Friday in a land dispute in Hiranpur village under the Ekdil police station area of Etawah.Her family members demanded action against named accused Nand Kishore, who was released from jail 15 days ago in an old murder case. Police sent the body for postmortem and started an investigation.According to information, Rani Devi (41), wife of Kunji Lal and a resident of Hiranpur, was grazing animals in a field about 100 metres from her home on Friday when Nand Kishore allegedly reached there with his associates to grab her 1.5 bigha of land. When Rani Devi protested, the accused allegedly attacked her with sticks, rods, and a spade, leaving her seriously injured.The family members first took her to Dhanvantari Hospital, from where she was referred to the district hospital after primary treatment. At about 9 at night, doctors at the district hospital declared her dead.The deceased’s husband Kunji Lal said that in 2009, an agreement for 1.5 bigha of land was made with Nand Kishore, and the deal was fixed at Rs 80,000, of which Rs 50,000 was paid and Rs 30,000 remained. He alleged that Nand Kishore was in jail in a 17 years old murder case, due to which the sale deed of the land could not be executed.Kunji Lal said that after Nand Kishore was released from jail about 15 days ago, they asked the accused to take the remaining Rs 30,000 and execute the sale deed. He alleged that, angered by this, the accused reached the field with his family and others to grab the land, and when she protested, his wife was attacked. He said that at first the injuries appeared normal, but she died due to internal injuries.According to the official handle of SSP Etawah, “Necessary action is being taken in this case. An FIR has been registered against those concerned, and the matter is under investigation. Anyone found guilty will not be spared.”Times News Network——–eom
