Rain keeps CM’s helicopter hovering low over Hajipur

Patna: A brief weather scare unfolded in Hajipur on Saturday when CM Samrat Choudhary’s helicopter was forced to hover at a lower altitude for a few minutes after take-off because of poor visibility caused by rain. The helicopter had taken off from the helipad at Akshayvat Rai Stadium after Samrat attended a programme in Hajipur. However, adverse weather conditions prevented the pilot from immediately proceeding towards Patna, forcing the aircraft to remain above the stadium before resuming its journey. The unexpected manoeuvre prompted security personnel and officials to clear the area around the helipad as a precaution. The situation, however, returned to normal shortly afterwards.Vaishali SP Shubhank Mishra said there was no technical or mechanical problem with the helicopter. “After it took off from the stadium, it remained in the same spot for hardly 3-4 minutes before starting for its destination,” he said.Officials said the delay was caused entirely by poor visibility. Once weather conditions improved and the pilot was able to see the route clearly, the helicopter resumed its flight to Patna.Eyewitnesses said the incident briefly triggered panic among people present at the stadium.
