A passenger who flew with VietJet took to social media to warn others against flying with the airline after alleging that he and his mother were subjected to disrespectful treatment by the cabin crew. He shared that a simple request for a glass of water to take medicines turned ugly when the crew not just refused to give it but also accused them of “lying”.

Taking to Instagram, the flyer Yadupriyam Mehta shared that the incident occurred after takeoff when his mother asked the cabin crew for water so that she could take her medicines. What he expected to be a routine request allegedly turned into an argument, with the crew accusing the mother and son of lying about the reason for asking for water.

In the clip, the crew was seen telling the duo, “You may be lying to me.” The angered passenger then said, “Why will I lie to you about the medicine?” and added which crew asks the passengers to show their medicine to provide a glass of water. The cabin crew replied that they have faced similar cases previously, where people “lied” to get water.

Sharing his experience on the platform, the passenger described the interaction as “extremely disappointing.” He wrote, “Think twice before flying VietJet. No passenger deserves to be treated with disrespect. Our experience with VietJet was extremely disappointing. The cabin crew behaved in a disrespectful and unprofessional manner toward my mother over a simple request for water after takeoff.”

“What should have been handled with basic courtesy turned into an unnecessary argument, accompanied by deeply offensive remarks,” he said. “This kind of behavior has no place in aviation. Every passenger deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I’m sharing this experience so the relevant authorities can review how passengers are being treated.”

The post has since drawn attention online, with many users sharing similar incidents while flying with VietJet.

“Same thing happened with me also in @vietjet @vietjetindia I was travelling to India from Vietjet and I paid for extra seat also and even after paying one of them started shouting on me! But when I shouted back and recorded them he and his manager was almost on knees!” wrote a user.

Another said, “This is really disappointing to see. I understand vietjet is a low-cost airline and water is not complimentary. even if a passenger is elderly and crew is unsure whether they really need water for medication, it costs nothing to show empathy and provide it. Low-cost airline or not, basic care and respect should never be compromised.”

Meanwhile, an individual highlighted, “There’s a reason why it’s called a budget airline, and that’s how they survive”

“Just show the medicine and move on man. They might have a protocol to follow as well. Their jobs are hard too. Doing all this just cause you didn’t get free water is diabolical,” a different person said.

Someone else mentioned, “I don’t think Vietjet gives anything for free even water.”
