Bidar: Bhalki DSP Ballappa Nandagaonvi said police arrested 26-year-old Sagar Bhimaraya Hosamani, a convict who had escaped from Kalaburagi Central Jail, near the Bhalki bus stand on Saturday evening.The district superintendent of police had earlier alerted all stations about the escaped prisoners. Acting on credible information that Sagar was heading towards Bhalki, police laid a trap early in the morning and tracked him down by evening.Constable Mahesh of Bhalki City police station, Harshavardhan of Dhannur police station, and Mahadeva Hiremath of the District Armed Reserve (DAR) were part of the team that carried out the operation and arrested the convict.In the early hours of July 14, three convicts — Sagar, Santhosh and Mastan — escaped from Kalaburagi Central Jail.Santhosh, one of the escapees, was recaptured by Kalaburagi police on July 15 after being shot in the leg during the operation. With Sagar now in custody, police have intensified efforts to trace the third convict, Mastan.Police sources said a massive search operation is underway to locate and apprehend the remaining fugitive.
