‘Please Let Us Breathe, We Are Dying’: Students Flood CBSE After Re-Evaluation Portal Faces 1.5 Million Hits
Students trying to access CBSE’s Class 12 re-evaluation portal on Tuesday faced a mix of relief, frustration and anxiety as the board revealed that the platform had remained operational despite multiple cyberattack attempts. While thousands of students successfully submitted their applications, many others took to social media to report technical issues, request changes to the evaluation process and seek additional support from the board.
CBSE shared an update on X (formerly Twitter), saying its re-evaluation portal continued to function smoothly even after facing unusually high traffic and suspected cyberattacks. The announcement triggered a flood of reactions from students, many of whom used the opportunity to raise concerns about marks, verification issues and portal-related problems.
CBSE Reports Cyberattack Attempts
According to the board, the portal was handling a large number of student requests throughout the day. As of 3 pm, more than 16,000 students had successfully completed their submissions, while over 8,000 users were active on the platform at the same time.
CBSE said one of the biggest challenges came in the form of an alleged denial-of-service (DoS) attack. The board claimed that nearly 1.5 million hits were recorded on the portal within just two minutes. It also reported more than one lakh attempts at unauthorised file access during the same period.
Despite these incidents, the portal remained accessible for students applying for verification of marks, scanned copies of answer sheets and re-evaluation services.
Board Says Changes Were Made
CBSE also highlighted a few improvements made after receiving feedback from students. One of the key changes was increasing the session duration on the portal.
According to the board, the move was aimed at reducing the chances of students getting logged out while completing their applications. The board said these updates were introduced to make the re-evaluation process smoother and more convenient.
CBSE added that its technical and cybersecurity teams were actively monitoring the platform. “Our teams remain vigilant and responsive to ensure our dearest students are facilitated in all ways possible,” the board said.
Update from our Cybersecurity Teams:The CBSE revaluation portal is currently supporting over 8,000 concurrent users. As of 3:00 PM today, more than 16,000 students have successfully completed their submissions.

Students Share Concerns Online
Much of the discussion online focused on students’ experiences with the portal and their concerns about the evaluation process.
A user wrote, “Dear CBSE, Please add “Wrongly marked as Blank Page” add an option in Verification process. Most of pages were marked as “Blank page” even though they clearly are not.”
Another student requested additional flexibility from the board, saying, “Dear CBSE, many Class 12 students are facing issues due to OSM evaluation and unexpected marks. We request CBSE to kindly allow improvement exams in up to 2 subjects this year as a special relaxation.”
Several users complained about technical glitches. “Why copy pasting in (reason column isn’t allowed on the website)!!! I literally spent 2hrs or more on the website filling out my request on cbse website but when I was about to the website says session ended,” a person wrote.
Another commented, “It shows verification failed please check your details and try again I have checked every detail and tried several times but still it shows verification failed.”
A different user expressed frustration, writing, “Dear Sir/Madam, I have been trying since 5am and still it’s showing verification failed, tried multiple times with multiple gadgets. Please give us atleast 15 grace marks or atleast 2 subjects improvement test. Sir please, Madam please let us breathe, we are dying.”
Some Users Praise The Board’s Efforts
Not all reactions were critical. Some users appreciated that the portal remained functional despite the reported cyberattack attempts.
A user joked, “Less of a revaluation portal. More of a nation-scale cybersecurity battleground.”
Another student wrote, “Dear CBSE, I have successfully submitted my application for the re-evaluation of my answer sheets. I kindly request the board to ensure a thorough and precise review. Looking forward to the updated results at the earliest convenience. Thank you.”
Others continued to push for additional support measures, including grace marks and more opportunities for improvement exams. “Please cbse give grace marks of 20 atleast to rt students it’s enough drama now. Counselling has already started!!” a user commented.
