Thiruvananthapuram: Home minister Ramesh Chennithala has issued a stern warning to those who allegedly use online food delivery platforms as a cover for trafficking and distributing narcotic substances.“There are people who deliver food ordered online to homes. Serious complaints have also been raised against some of them. This is the final warning. Whatever has been done so far is over. This activity must stop now. Do not create a situation where we are compelled to bring you before the law,” the minister said.He stated that complaints had been received under ‘Operation Toofan’ alleging that delivery networks were being misused to transport narcotic substances. Such activities must be stopped immediately, he warned, adding that strict legal action would be initiated against those who continue such activities.Chennithala also said police officers had been given clear instructions not to entertain any recommendations in cases registered under Operation Toofan. In view of complaints that ambulances were being used for the transportation and sale of drugs, he said they too would be subjected to special inspections.On June 26, observed as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, anti-drug programmes will be organized in all assembly constituencies across Kerala under the leadership of MLAs. Anti-drug pledges will also be administered, the minister added.
