T’puram: Two more persons were arrested on Sunday in connection with the attack on a woman whose family was allegedly targeted for helping police arrest a history-sheeter involved in a recent assault case. The arrested were identified as Ahmed Hashim, 31, and Irshad, 30, both natives of Vizhinjam Township, said Vizhinjam SI M Prashanth.Police on Saturday arrested Nathan alias Abdul Rahman, 30, also a native of Vizhinjam township and an accused in several criminal cases, in connection with the incident. Hashim is also facing an attempt-to-murder case registered at Kovalam police station, police said. One more accused is yet to be arrested.According to police, the accused barged into the house of Al Ameen, alleging that he assisted police in arresting Inshad, 26, who was taken into custody on Thursday for allegedly creating terror by brandishing a sword, damaging an autorickshaw and attacking a fisherman identified as Siluvai.When the accused reached the house, Ameen was not present. The gang allegedly attacked his wife with an axe, causing injuries to her shoulder. Police said the assault was an act of retaliation for the information allegedly provided to investigators.Inshad, a resident of Vizhinjam, has 14 criminal cases, including attempt to murder, registered against him and is listed in the station’s rowdy sheet, police said. The arrested accused were produced before a court and remanded.
