Dharwad: Hundreds of people across all age groups participated in yoga sessions held at various locations in Dharwad on Sunday to mark World Yoga Day. The events were inaugurated with the planting of saplings.Students, government officials and members of various voluntary organisations took part in the Yoga Day celebrations organised by the district administration and the AYUSH department at RN Shetty Stadium early in the morning.Deputy Commissioner Snehal inaugurated the event and said yoga helps people de-stress and lead a healthy and happy life. Noting that this year’s theme is ‘Yoga for a Healthy Old Age’, she emphasised that there is no age limit for practising yoga and maintaining good health.Officials of the AYUSH department and members of the Brahma Kumari Ishwareeya Vishwavidyalaya, among others, participated in the programme and performed yoga.Trainer Jagadish Malagi guided participants through various yoga postures. Students and teachers also performed yoga at educational institutions run by the KE Board, JSS, LEA, Base Mission, SDME Society and KLE Society, among others. The Kayakalpa Yoga Centre in Kelgeri organised a special yoga session for its members.
