In Bajaj’s recent earnings call, there have been a lot of exciting announcements. In which the Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, Rakesh Sharma, hinted at the launch of 2 new brands.
“We are looking at a different brand because the propositions will be – we mean the propositions more at this stage, but because the propositions will be different, we don’t want to sort of call them Pulsars.They will have a very specific angle to them, and they will be two different brands. And we hope to not just capture a bigger share of the 125cc plus segment”
Upcoming 125 cc Commuter Bike
It’s clear that a new 125 cc commuter bike is incoming. Bajaj wants it to be an upgrade for those currently on a 100cc bike, like the Platina or the CT110. Bajaj could likely give it an engine derived from the upcoming Pulsar 125 Classic.
That said, it should be tuned more for an easier riding experience and a higher mileage. Since Bajaj’s priority right now is the new Pulsar 125, the new commuter could still be a few years away.
We think it could be called the Glider. Bajaj had trademarked a few names a while ago – Glider, Freedom, Trekker, and the Marathon. Out of these, the latter could be a three-wheeler, the Freedom is the CNG bike, and the Trekker could be the upcoming Bajaj adventure bike. That leaves us with the Glider, which sounds more appropriate for a commuter bike – given its likeness to comfort and an easy ride.
With this, Bajaj will mark its re-entry in the 125 cc commuter class, which it left with the discontinuation of the Discover 125 in 2015.
Bajaj Trekker 250
The Trekker has been spied a few times. The bike is currently in the final stages of production and hinting at its launch being around the festive season. The Bajaj Trekker 250 will be a dual-sport motorcycle and most likely share the same engine as the Pulsar N250.

Bajaj has clearly said that the new bikes will be different from the current Pulsar range. This should allow the brand to diversify its offerings, and cater to a wider set of audience, without diluting the Pulsar brand name. It will also give the upcoming bikes a distinct identity, and might make them more appealing for potential buyers.
With that, Bajaj is gearing up for quite a lot of launches – new bikes as well as updates. There’s also an electric bike that Bajaj is working on, but it’s still a while away
