Mysuru: The Mysuru railway station witnessed tense moments on Sunday morning when activists of a right-wing organisation started checking documents of around 36 passengers who arrived in the city on the weekly Howrah Express.Following the incident, Railway police registered an FIR against six activists and booked them for causing nuisance inside the railway station. They said all the passengers produced their documents proving their nationality.According to the activists, it is the second such drive carried out by them in recent days after the reports that migrants from Bangladesh who were staying illegally in West Bengal started to arrive in Karnataka after BJP swept the assembly elections last month.According to the activists, they handed over these 36 passengers to the Railway police as their documents were found dubious in nature. All of them produced Aadhaar cards, but we have doubts that they are fake. We wanted Railway police to verify the Aadhaar cards, the activists stated. The passengers informed us that they are going to coffee plantations in Wayanad in Keralam and in Sakaleshapura and Virajpet in Karnataka, they stated.Railway police informed that among the 36 passengers, 34 produced their Aadhaar cards with West Bengal addresses. “So, we registered an FIR against the activists,” said a police officer.Vasanth Kumar, city convener of Hindu Jagarana Vedike, alleged that Railway police targeted the vedike activists. “Instead of registering an FIR against the right-wing activists, police should verify the documents produced by the travellers,” he said. He alleged that police are working under the pressure of the ruling Congress party. Meanwhile, all the six who were named in the FIR were released on station bail on Sunday late evening. According to sources, MP Yaduveer visited the station and collected details over the incident.
