Prayagraj: Students of Prof Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) University (PRSU) received first-hand guidance on building careers in the armed forces during a special lecture on “Career Opportunities in Defence Forces and Preparation Methodology” organised by the department of defence and strategic studies at the university, on Thursday.The programme was attended by Major General Dharm Raj Rai, (SM, VSM), as the chief guest, while Lt Col Arnav Bansal and AP Tripathi were present as special guests.Addressing the gathering, Maj Gen Rai gave a detailed overview of career opportunities available in the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force. He spoke about various entry schemes, including the National Defence Academy (NDA), Combined Defence Services (CDS), Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT), Technical Entry Scheme (TES), NCC Special Entry, Short Service Commission (SSC), Permanent Commission (PC) and Judge Advocate General (JAG) entry.He urged students to look upon the armed forces not merely as a profession but as an opportunity to serve the nation with courage, discipline and integrity. Emphasising that the Services Selection Board (SSB) examination is a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s personality, he advised aspirants to focus on developing leadership qualities, communication skills, emotional resilience, decision-making ability, social adaptability and self-confidence. Referring to the life of Lord Ram, he underlined the importance of commitment, patience, righteousness and selfless service.
