Hubballi: Karnataka Rashtra Samithi (KRS) honorary president Ravi Krishna Reddy on Saturday demanded that the state govt either immediately scrap the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) or implement comprehensive reforms to curb rampant corruption and recruitment irregularities in the body.Speaking to reporters, Reddy alleged that recruitment scams have plagued the KPSC for several decades due to the failure of successive ruling parties to address the issue. While the NEET question paper leak sparked a nationwide debate, he said question paper leaks and recruitment scams are nothing new in state govt recruitment processes. He further alleged that serious irregularities have occurred repeatedly in KPSC recruitments.Despite CID investigations into past recruitment drives, strict action has not been taken against those responsible, he said. Cases involving candidates allegedly selected through illegal means have remained pending in courts for years without any decisive intervention from the govt. He added that nearly three lakh govt posts remain vacant across the state.Reddy said that if the govt decides to retain the KPSC, it must implement all the recommendations of the Hota Committee. He also called for a review of the constitutional protection granted to the KPSC chairman and members so that legal action can be taken against those found guilty of wrongdoing.The KRS announced plans to mobilise competitive exam aspirants across districts and launch a massive statewide protest demanding KPSC reforms and immediate recruitment to fill vacant govt posts. KRS state general secretary Raghupathi Bhat and others were present.
