A passenger’s X post about his experience during a recent train journey has gone viral on X after sharing what he called the “worst train journey experience” of his life, and the internet has a lot to say about it.

In the now-viral post, the passenger claimed his entire trip on the Mysore Vande Bharat Express was ruined because of repeated disturbances caused by children seated around him and what he described as “completely silent” parents.

According to the post, the man had a window seat, but a 3-4-year-old child sitting beside him allegedly kept kicking him, falling on him, and almost spilling his tea during the journey. What frustrated him more was that the child’s father reportedly stayed silent the entire time and did not try to stop the behaviour.

The passenger then shared that another child sitting in the seat ahead repeatedly kept pushing the seat backwards “like it was some sort of game”. He claimed he was working on his laptop during the trip, and the constant seat movement hit his knees several times, almost shutting his laptop close.

“I genuinely don’t mind kids enjoying train journeys… but when their behaviour starts making co-passengers uncomfortable, parents should at least step in,” the passenger wrote in the post.

But it did not stop at noisy co-passengers. The traveller also criticised the onboard dinner service, claiming the food quantity felt “extremely low” for a premium train experience. He said he raised the issue through Rail Madad but alleged that the manager dismissed the complaint by arguing that the food box was “big”, so there was no issue with quantity.

The user ended the post by saying the entire experience completely ruined his mood and that, despite wanting to confront the parents, he chose to stay quiet throughout the journey.

Soon after the post went viral, social media users flooded the comments section with mixed reactions.

One user wrote, “Indian parents acting blind when their kids disturb others is honestly too common.”

Another commented, “People book Vande Bharat expecting peace and end up getting a full patience test instead.”

A third user joked, “Seat-kicking kids are the unofficial mascot of Indian public transport.”

However, some users also defended the families involved. “Kids will obviously move around during long journeys. Public transport cannot be perfectly silent,” one comment read.
