The Trivandrum-Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express holds one of Indian Railways’ most unusual records by covering a massive stretch without stopping between stations.

India’s railway network is filled with unusual records. Some trains are known for speed, some for luxury, and others for connecting the country’s remotest regions. But one train stands out for a very different reason: it travels an astonishing 528 kilometres without a single stop.
The train is the Trivandrum-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express, which runs between Kerala’s capital Thiruvananthapuram and Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin station. During one part of its route, the train travels non-stop between Kota in Rajasthan and Vadodara in Gujarat, creating one of the longest uninterrupted railway runs in India.
The distance covered during this stretch is roughly 528 kilometres, and the train takes around six-and-a-half to seven hours to complete it without halting at any station in between. For passengers unfamiliar with the route, the uninterrupted journey often becomes one of the most surprising parts of travelling on this Rajdhani service.
The train itself passes through around six Indian states during its larger journey between Delhi and Kerala. Rajdhani Express trains are among Indian Railways’ premium long-distance services and are designed for faster travel with fewer stops compared to regular express trains.
The unusually long non-stop stretch is partly possible because of the route’s importance and the operational priority given to Rajdhani services on busy railway corridors. Fewer interruptions allow the train to maintain higher average speeds over long distances.
For Indian Railways, maintaining such a long uninterrupted run also requires careful scheduling and coordination across multiple railway divisions. Freight movement, crossing traffic and station congestion on one of the country’s busiest rail networks make long non-stop runs relatively uncommon.
The story has drawn attention online partly because many passengers assume trains in India stop frequently across major routes. A seven-hour non-stop stretch feels especially surprising in a railway system that carries millions of passengers daily across thousands of stations.
Indian Railways itself remains one of the largest railway networks in the world, stretching across more than 69,000 kilometres of route length according to recent figures. Every day, countless passengers depend on trains for affordable long-distance travel across the country.
While high-speed rail and bullet train projects continue to dominate future railway discussions, older long-distance services like the Rajdhani Express still hold several remarkable records of their own. And among them, the Trivandrum–Nizamuddin Rajdhani’s massive non-stop run remains one of the most unusual.
