Gurgaon: An interstate illegal arms supply network was busted, and a man was arrested from Dhar district in Madhya Pradesh for allegedly manufacturing illegal weapons.Police said the accused, Jagat Singh, has been involved in illegal arms trade for nearly three decades and is named in 14 criminal cases across multiple states.The investigation began after a man named Yogesh alias Harsh was arrested near the 32 Milestone Service Road in Sector 15 on May 29. Yogesh, a native of Etawah district in UP, was residing in Gadaipur village and was found carrying three country-made pistols, police said.A case under the Arms Act was registered at Civil Lines police station, and investigators began tracing the source of the weapons. During the probe, police arrested Jasbir, a resident of Bojha village in UP’s Mainpuri district, accused of supplying the weapons to Yogesh.Further investigation led police to Jagat, a resident of Singhana village in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar district, who is also the key accused in manufacturing the illegal firearms and distributing them further.Both accused were produced before a court the following day. While Jasbir was sent to judicial custody, Jagat was remanded to four days of police custody for further questioning.During interrogation, Jagat told investigators that he manufactured the weapons recovered in the case and sold them to Jasbir for around Rs 60,000. He also disclosed that he was manufacturing and supplying illegal firearms for nearly 30 years.Naveen Sharma, ACP (crime), said Jagat revealed details of a manufacturing unit being operated from a room in a hilly area of Singhana village.Acting on the information, a police team took him to Madhya Pradesh and searched the location.During the operation, police recovered three illegal pistols, one magazine, and various tools, components and materials allegedly used in the manufacture of firearms.“There is a possibility that he might have hidden more weapons and thus we are expecting further recovery. Now we will trace his other associates besides checking whether he supplied weapons to notorious gangs,” ACP said.Investigators said the accused used to manufacture country-made pistols and firearms and sold them for Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 each.Jagat has 13 cases related to possession and supply of illegal weapons registered against him in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana and Delhi. With the present case, the total number of criminal cases registered against him rose to 14.
