Comedian Pranit More on Saturday sought an apology over the viral “Rs 370 ki biryani” controversy, saying he got carried away with the derogatory comments made by Himanshu Jangra and gave him a platform, which caused things to escalate.

His apology came after a viral controversy erupted when Jangra shared a dating experience at More’s show, in which he suggested that because he had spent Rs 370 on a plate of chicken biryani on a date, he expected something in return from the woman. The remark triggered widespread outrage online, with many critics describing it as misogynistic, transactional, and reflective of attitudes that continue to influence modern dating dynamics.

In a video posted on his Instagram account, More said he had received significant backlash over the controversy, adding that he deserved the criticism for giving the man a platform to make derogatory remarks.

“While I was doing crowd work with that guy, he said many derogatory things, but everyone was laughing. I got carried away, and it was a lapse in judgment. I feel this was a big mistake on my part. I could have stopped him there or taken a stand, but I didn’t,” he said.

“I gave him a platform, which caused things to escalate. To anyone who was hurt because of this, I want to apologise. Whatever legal proceedings are happening against me, I am cooperating with the authorities,” he added.

More requested people to give him another chance to become a better person, emphasising that the controversy was a learning experience for him. ” I am working on myself, I will work on my content, and you will be able to see this in my work in the future.”
