A woman’s LinkedIn post about finally joining Cognizant after years of trying has struck a chord with many professionals online. In the post, she shared how she faced rejection not once but twice before eventually getting the opportunity she had long hoped for.
Her story has resonated with people who have experienced career setbacks, reminding them that success does not always come on the first attempt.
She Faced Rejection Twice
Maheshwari Mohan, a senior process executive based in Chennai, recently shared her journey on LinkedIn. She revealed that Cognizant had always been her dream company, but getting a job there was far from easy.
According to her post, her first attempt came during a college campus placement drive in 2022. However, things did not go as planned. “I got rejected by Cognizant during my college campus drive. I cried the whole night,” she wrote.
The setback hit her hard, but she did not stop trying. A year later, in June 2023, she attended a walk-in recruitment drive. Once again, she made it to the final stage of the hiring process. But for the second time, she was not selected.
Recalling that period, she wrote, “I questioned everything. ‘Maybe I’m not good enough for Cognizant.’”
HCLTech Became A Turning Point
Later in 2023, Mohan joined HCLTech. She described the experience as an important phase in her career, saying it helped her grow both personally and professionally.
While she was building new skills and gaining experience, she admitted that Cognizant remained a goal she had not completely let go of.
She wrote that her time at HCLTech helped her learn and improve, preparing her for opportunities ahead.
An Unexpected Call Changed Things
Years after her second rejection, Mohan received an unexpected message from a Cognizant recruiter through LinkedIn regarding a Real-Time Analyst (RTA) position. This time, the result was different. She cleared all the interview rounds and secured the role.
In June 2026, she officially joined Cognizant, four years after her first attempt. Looking back on the journey, she wrote, “Four years late. But 10x more ready than my fresher self in 2022.”
People Relate To Her Experience
Her post received support from many users who said they could relate to facing rejection before eventually finding success.
A user commented, “A powerful example of how rejection doesn’t define capability. Sometimes the timing isn’t right, and that’s completely different from not being good enough. Congratulations on achieving a goal that meant so much to you.”
Another wrote, “Perseverance really does pay off. I too was rejected for many roles. I also reapplied years later, but also repositioned. I eventually got hired including for a role in Cognizant.”
“Somethings happen with time,” a person commented. Another user added, “your determination is inspiring!!”
