Nagpur: Gang war erupted late Wednesday in Pachpaoli area of north Nagpur with bullets fired on a notorious criminal, Ajay Chinchkhede, 27, at Shaniwar Bazaar near Kamal Chowk, triggering panic in the busy market area. Bullets grazed past Chinchkhede, who is out on bail in a MCOCA case. He narrowly escaped death even as he was celebrating the birthday of an aide at Shaniwar Bazaar.Key accused Jagdish Vijay Gokhale, 27, resident of MHADA Colony, Kapilnagar, was also granted bail on Wednesday in a Yashodharanagar abduction case. Police sources revealed an intense tussle between the two gangs for supremacy in the Pachpaoli area.The feud intensified over monetary transactions and a tip-off by Chinchkhede that led to Jagdish’s arrest in an MD drug case on April 24.On Wednesday night, while Ajay was celebrating the birthday of his associate Krish and friends Rahul, Dugesh and Saurabh, Jagdish reached the spot with bike-borne gang members.Two masked scouts first confirmed Chinchkhede’s presence and moments later, Jagdish fired from a pistol. Ajay escaped unhurt and fled with his friends.On Thursday morning, Chinchkhede reached Pachpaoli police station with an empty cartridge and lodged a complaint. Police registered a case of attempt to murder and launched a massive search for Jagdish and his aides.
