A handwritten resignation letter has taken social media by storm after an employee gave an unusually candid reason for quitting his job. Instead of citing career aspirations or personal growth, the employee bluntly admitted that another company was offering weekends off and slightly better pay, leaving internet users amused by the refreshing honesty of his explanation.
The viral post was shared on LinkedIn by HR consultant Aishwarya Gupta, who uploaded a photograph of a handwritten resignation letter that seems to be a part of her ongoing “Resignation Series.”
The image was labelled “Resignation Series Part 20″ and featured a short note from an employee named Farhan, whose straightforward explanation for leaving his job quickly caught the attention of internet users.
Unlike conventional resignation letters filled with formal language and expressions of gratitude, Farhan’s note offered a blunt reason for his decision. Written in Hindi, the letter stated that a competing company was offering weekly holidays on Saturdays and Sundays along with slightly higher pay, prompting him to switch employers.
The resignation letter read: “Dear sir, Saamne vali company Saturday, Sunday chhuti aur 2 Paise zyada de rahi hai toh mai bik gaya
yours sincerely,
Farhan”
The candid message resonated with many social media users, who viewed it as a humorous reflection of workplace realities. While companies often speak about career development, work culture and long-term growth, several commenters noted that better compensation and improved work-life balance remain among the strongest factors influencing career decisions.
The post soon gained traction, with users praising both the employee’s honesty and his handwriting.
“Everyone is talking about the resignation, but I’m impressed by the handwriting. 😄✍️ Clean, neat, and absolutely beautiful,” said one user.
Another commenter applauded the simplicity of the note, writing, “Dil jeet liya bhai ne kaya sahi resign diya bhai tumne, Dil se tumhe salute my friend.”
One user joked about the contrast between corporate messaging and employee priorities, saying, “LinkedIn says : Career Growth. Reality says : Higher salary and Saturday,Sunday holidays. 😂😂”
Another added, “Straight on the point! Nailed it! 😜😁”
The importance of work-life balance was highlighted by another user who wrote, “2 paise Kam diye tho bhi parvanai. Week off diye tho chale jana.”
Meanwhile, one commenter interpreted the resignation as an unusually honest assessment of workplace conditions, stating, “Finally admitting that quitting can be the most honest performance review ever.”
