As DK Shivakumar prepares to replace Siddaramaiah as Karnataka Chief Minister, Satish Jarkiholi emerges as a key contender for the KPCC president post.

Satish Jarkiholi Seeks Cabinet Berth, KPCC Role During Karnataka Power Shift
Karnataka Leadership Change: As Karnataka prepares for political transition with DK Shivakumar set to take over the Chief Minister’s post from Siddaramaiah, focus shifted to Satish Jarkiholi after the nameplate outside his residence was found covered with paper, while the Karnataka government emblem was also no longer visible on his official car.
The development came a day after Siddaramaiah stepped down as Karnataka Chief Minister. His resignation has been accepted and the state cabinet has been dissolved ahead of a likely leadership transition in the Congress government.

Jarkiholi was serving as the Public Works Minister in the outgoing Siddaramaiah cabinet.
Party sources told CNN-News18 that Jarkiholi has conveyed to the party high command his wish to get a cabinet berth along with the post of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president. However, sources close to the Belagavi-based Congress leader said no discussions have taken place so far.
As Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar is expected to succeed Siddaramaiah, attention has shifted to the race for the KPCC chief’s post, with Jarkiholi emerging as a strong contender.
Who Is Satish Jarkiholi?
A powerful grassroots leader from north Karnataka and a seasoned organisational hand within the Congress, Jarkiholi has spent years quietly building influence away from the national spotlight. Unlike many leaders who rely on aggressive public positioning, his rise has largely been shaped by patient networking, constituency control and an ability to stay relevant through multiple political phases.
If appointed KPCC chief, it would mark the biggest organisational elevation of his political career so far and place him at the centre of Congress strategy in Karnataka ahead of future electoral battles.
He has represented the Yemakanmardi constituency since 2008 and has handled several key portfolios over the years, including Excise, Forest and Environment, and Public Works.
Party leaders believe his ability to maintain ties across different factions within the Karnataka Congress could work in his favour as the party prepares for a new political phase.
