Hazaribag: Sadar circle officer (CO) Ashutosh Kumar and former Barkgaon MLA Yogendra Saw engaged in a heated verbal exchange on Sunday over alleged encroachment attempt of 50 decimals of Khas Mahal (govt) land at Hurhuru under Cantonment Mouza.Officials said the plot was covered with covered with bamboo, sticks and leaves to hide the activity from the main road. Sand was dumped outside and a heavy vehicle was parked nearby, allegedly to conceal work inside. Preparations for digging pits were reportedly underway.The CO objected to the alleged encroachment and insisted the illegal fencing be removed. Objecting to it, Saw said he had obtained a power of attorney from Mujibur Rahman, the original owner of the land.Saw objected, asking officials to first verify documents and conduct proper measurement. “The Khas Mahal land was revoked or resumed by the govt, and a renewal petition was pending before the Khas Mahal officer. Until official resumption, it could not be treated as govt property,” Saw said.
