The Anna Salai Police have arrested a 41-year-old man on charges of sexually harassing a woman inside a lift at a commercial complex in Royapettah.
According to the police, a 38-year-old woman residing with her family in Nungambakkam High Road area lodged a complaint with the police alleging that she was sexually harassed inside the lift at the private commercial complex.
According to the complaint, the woman and her friend were travelling in a lift at the commercial complex on Sunday evening when two men standing behind them allegedly subjected her to sexual harassment. The accused fled the scene when the lift stopped.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
After investigation, the police arrested one of the accused, Lakshmi Narayanan, 41, of Velachery. During the investigation, the police found that Lakshmi Narayanan was employed as a housekeeping worker at a private company in Velachery.
Police said efforts were on to trace and arrest the other accused involved in the case.
