Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Saturday triggered a political storm by comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, triggering a fierce response from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Raut launched an attack on PM Modi during a press conference, saying, “Such an ‘aghori’ person has never been born in Indian politics. Such a cruel person has never been born.”
“This country has produced great leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, P V Narasimha Rao, Rajiv Gandhi, B R Ambedkar, and Bal Thackeray. Such great leaders were born from the soil of this nation. But when I look at the entire character of Narendra Modi, I am concerned. He comes from the same soil from which Aurangzeb was born. Aurangzeb was born in Gujarat, wasn’t he?” he remarked.

BJP Hits Back At Raut’s Comments
The BJP issued a strong response to Raut’s comments, saying Congress and its allies “have gone mad” in hatred towards PM Modi because they can’t defeat him in elections.
“Sanjay Raut abusing PM Modi makes it clear that the entire INDIA alliance is insulting 140 crore people of India to save their families. They are inspired by Aurangzeb, Ghori and Ghazni. That’s why they abuse every person who serves the country,” said BJP national spokesperson.

“Congress and its not so called allies have gone mad in PM Modi hate!” he added.
Raut’s comments come at a time when the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction is facing growing speculation about its future within the opposition camp. Reports suggest that the seven MPs could switch allegiance to the Shinde faction and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), although details of any meetings remain unclear.
