Belagavi: The emergency and trauma centre of Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) has been shifted from its old facility on Club Road to a new state-of-the-art building nearby on Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Road.The new facility, equipped with modern medical equipment and spacious infrastructure, is expected to provide faster and more efficient treatment to critically ill and injured patients. The emergency unit at the Club Road facility had served patients for more than four decades. It has now been closed, and BIMS administration has appealed to patients and their relatives to take critical cases directly to the new emergency department.According to BIMS administration, the emergency department will handle accident cases, snakebite victims, assault cases, falls from heights and other medical emergencies. The shift is expected to significantly strengthen emergency healthcare services at the district hospital.Meanwhile, the 60-bed state-of-the-art critical care unit established at the district hospital has been completed and made fully operational. The unit, established with the support of the state and central govts, provides a range of critical-care facilities under one roof.
