The AIADMK on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the TVK government in Tamil Nadu, accusing it of failing the state in key areas such as public safety and economic growth.

The party also said people were facing daily hardship because of power cuts and a worsening law and order situation.

The attack followed remarks made by the Chief Minister at a public meeting in Karur on Friday, where he targeted both Dravidian parties.

He described the DMK as an “evil force” and the AIADMK as a “spent force”, and alleged that the two were working together behind the scenes.

In a post on X, the AIADMK said, “The current Chief Minister, who rode to power on the heels of a tragedy that claimed 41 innocent lives, has used the derogatory term hand in gloves.”

At the Karur meeting, the Chief Minister had alleged that in every government department, the DMK and AIADMK were secretly working together to plunder the state under the guise of collecting party funds.

“The evil force and spent force are not separate entities, they are working hand in glove,” he said, while challenging them to prove otherwise in the upcoming bypolls.

Responding to the charge, the AIADMK said it had fought the DMK in all 234 Assembly constituencies and continued to function as a distinct and independent opposition party.

It also accused the TVK of forming a government through “sheer political opportunism” by poaching the DMK’s alliance partners.

The AIADMK also questioned Vijay’s political record, asking, “In the two years since you launched your party, how many people have you actually met? What people-centric politics have you discussed?”

The party further said, “While you (Vijay) were busy singing in Karur, reports have emerged that a massive Rs 38,000-crore investment by Hyundai has left Tamil Nadu,” and challenged the TVK chief to respond to the alleged economic loss.

Summing up its criticism, the AIADMK said the TVK had failed to address both economic concerns and the everyday problems faced by the public, while also rejecting the Chief Minister’s charge that it was working together with the DMK.
