Admin inspect Kanwar Yatra route, review Shravan preps

M Varanasi: Ahead of the Kanwar Yatra during the month of Shravan, police commissioner Mohit Agarwal and DM Satyendra Kumar on Saturday inspected the yatra route along with officials from various departments to review preparations for the annual pilgrimage.During the inspection, the senior officials reviewed every aspect of the preparations being made along the route and assessed all arrangements related to the convenience, safety and security of devotees on the spot. They directed the officers concerned to ensure that the best possible facilities are made available to devotees throughout the yatra and that they do not face any inconvenience.The police commissioner and DM held discussions with departmental officials regarding the condition of roads, cleanliness, drinking water arrangements, lighting, barricading, toilets, medical aid centres, ambulances, uninterrupted power supply, parking areas, resting places and traffic management along the Kanwar Yatra route. They instructed the concerned departments to complete all necessary arrangements within the stipulated time and ensure that no shortcomings remain before the commencement of the pilgrimage.The DM directed officials of the Public Works Department to ensure that the entire Kanwar Yatra route is fully repaired and remains smooth for the movement of devotees. He instructed them to ensure that no potholes remain anywhere along the route and asked PWD officials to personally inspect the entire stretch and immediately repair any damaged portions or potholes. He also directed the concerned departments to identify vulnerable points prone to waterlogging and resolve the problem without delay to prevent inconvenience during the yatra.The electricity department was instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply throughout the yatra period and to immediately repair any exposed, hanging or damaged electric wires to prevent accidents and ensure public safety.Agarwal directed administrative and police officials to maintain robust security arrangements during the Kanwar Yatra by deploying adequate police personnel at all sensitive locations. He also instructed officials to prepare and implement an effective traffic diversion plan so that both devotees and the general public can move without difficulty during the pilgrimage.The senior officials further directed all departments to continue regular field inspections throughout the Kanwar Yatra period, closely monitor the arrangements on a daily basis and ensure that any problem arising during the pilgrimage is resolved immediately.
