Chennai: A day after a Nepalese man was rescued while trying to die by suicide after killing his 9-year-old daughter on the premises of the school she studied in, he died at the hospital without responding to treatment. Police said the man, Lakshmanan Prasad, 40, was working as the watchman of Kalyanam Govt High School in Chintadripet, where he committed the crime.The man, on a video call with his wife, had shown her how he murdered their daughter and his own attempt to die by suicide. Though his attempt failed at the time, he later died in the hospital on Monday.Police said Lakshmanan Prasad was involved in frequent disputes with his wife, and that recently, she had gone back to Nepal with their other daughter. Since then, Lakshmanan Prasad had been living with Geetha on the school campus.Vani, 43, a school assistant, went to the second floor for her routine work and found the father and daughter in an unconscious state. She alerted other staff members, who rushed to the spot. On information, Chintadripet reached the school, recovered the girl’s body and sent it to the Govt Omandurar Medical College Hospital for postmortem. Lakshmanan Prasad was admitted to the same hospital for treatment but died on Monday.
