Times News NetworkRanchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Friday seized 480 kilograms of banned single-use plastic during a raid in the city’s commercial hub. A special enforcement team, led by assistant municipal commissioner Rahul Yadav, raided the premises of M/s Dispo World located in Upper Bazaar and recovered and confiscated the massive plastic haul, which was found packed in 17 cartons.Samples of the confiscated materials were dispatched to the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board for testing, confirming the storage of single-use plastic. A penalty of Rs 52,000 was slapped on the establishment in accordance with the statutory rules.Reiterating RMC’s zero-tolerance stance, Yadav said, “Manufacture, storage, sale, purchase, and use of single-use plastic remain strictly prohibited within the municipal corporation limits. Further seizures, financial penalties, and legal action will continue to be taken against individuals and establishments that violate these rules.”
