2 injured in celebratory firing in Farrukhabad

Kanpur: Two individuals were injured during a celebratory firing incident in Pithnapur Kotiyapur village on Friday night, under the jurisdiction of Amritpur police station in Farrukhabad district.According to police, the incident took place during celebrations at a ‘naamkaran’ ceremony of a newborn.One of the victims, Virendra, 24, said he was dining at around 11 pm when an individual fired a country-made pistol, injuring his hand.Another person, Mukesh, 25, was also injured in the incident, suffering a gunshot wound to his hand.Local residents said two shots were fired from a country-made pistol, causing panic among attendees. On receiving information, police reached the spot and initiated an investigation.Darshan Singh Solanki, in-charge of Amritpur police station, confirmed that two persons were injured in the firing. He said one victim is being treated at Lohia Hospital, while the other is undergoing medical examination.Solanki said no formal written complaint has been filed yet and the investigation is ongoing. Further legal action will be determined after a written complaint is received and the probe is completed.
