Kanpur: State Women’s Commission member Anita Gupta heard various problems and complaints of women at the public hearing held at the Circuit House Auditorium here on Friday.A total of 15 cases were heard in the public hearing and among them the maximum number of cases related to domestic violence. Anita Gupta, while seriously hearing each case, directed the departments concerned to take necessary action to provide justice to the aggrieved women.She said that the protection of women’s safety, dignity, and rights is among the highest priorities of the government. “No kind of negligence will be accepted in matters related to women’s harassment, domestic violence, and women’s rights”, she said. She directed the officials to ensure timely and quality disposal of complaints and provide necessary legal assistance and protection to the aggrieved women.Anita said that the objective of the women’s public hearing is to directly hear women’s problems and ensure their effective resolution. She appealed to women to come forward and register their complaints in case of any kind of harassment, violence, or discrimination, so that they can be provided with timely justice and assistance.ACM-2 Ritupriya, district probation officer Vikas Singh, women’s Station House Officer Qamar Sultana and officials of the departments concerned were present at the hearing.Later, the State Women’s Commission member participated in the women’s public awareness chaupal, nutrition panchayat, and health camp organized by the District Programme Officer Department in Gram Panchayat Singhpur. A large number of women participated in the programme and obtained important information related to health, nutrition, women’s safety, and women’s empowerment.Addressing the programme, Anita said that being healthy, educated, and self-reliant is the identity of an empowered society for women. She said that the Central and the state governments are running many public welfare schemes for the welfare of women and girls, the benefits of which need to be delivered to every eligible woman standing in the last row.She said that women should remain aware of their rights and give priority to education, health, and economic self-reliance. She called upon mothers and guardians to pay special attention to the nutrition, health, and education of children, and said that women have an important role in building a malnutrition-free and healthy society.In the programme, women were provided information regarding balanced diet, maternal and child health, prevention of anemia, nutrition-related precautions, and various government schemes. At the health camp, health checkups and consultation services were also made available by the health department team. Meanwhile, through the nutrition panchayat, women were motivated to adopt nutritious diet, cleanliness, and a healthy lifestyle.A large number of women enthusiastically participated in the programme and obtained information about government schemes, women’s welfare programmes, and health and nutrition-related subjects.
