Belagavi: In a tragic turn of events, the mother of a woman accused of plotting her husband’s murder for Rs 2 crore insurance money died by suicide at her residence in Ghodageri village of Hukkeri taluk Saturday. The deceased has been identified as Mahadevi Ghodageri, 58.Police said Mahadevi was alone at home at the time of the incident. Family members and villagers were left shocked when the news emerged, adding to the distress surrounding the already high-profile murder case.Her son-in-law, Sandeep Manjargi, 46, a former soldier, was allegedly murdered a few months ago in the same village. The case had drawn statewide attention after allegations surfaced that his wife, Suma Manjargi, had conspired to kill him for insurance money. Suma is currently in judicial custody.Locals said Mahadevi was deeply disturbed by the developments, including her daughter’s arrest, social stigma, and ongoing scrutiny. She had reportedly become withdrawn and anxious in recent weeks.Villagers described the family as reeling under successive tragedies, with the latest incident intensifying grief in the community.Kakati and Yamakanamardi police visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
