Pune: A group of 18 men damaged a car and a van parked on a public road in the Padmavati area around 1am on Monday.Senior inspector Vitthal Pawar of Sahakarnagar police said, “The suspects were carrying sharp weapons and were moving around the area on six two-wheelers. We have obtained CCTV footage of their movement and have ascertained the registration numbers of their vehicles. A case of rioting and mischief has been registered”Pawar said, “We suspect that the group members, who are from Yerawada, Viman Nagar, Chandan Nagar, Katraj and other parts of the city, were searching for a criminal with a police record in the area. However, they could not find him and instead damaged the two vehicles with sharp weapons.”“The goon they were searching for had shifted to the Jambhulwadi area a few days ago. They wanted to teach him a lesson and damaged the vehicles in the area,” he said.
