Thalapathy Vijay scripted history in his very first electoral attempt — sweeping into power in Tamil Nadu through his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam party. But as the celebrations erupted, the cameras panned to an uncomfortable absence: his own children were nowhere to be seen.

Vijay has two children — son Jason Sanjay, 25, and daughter Divya Sasha, 20. Neither campaigned for their father. Neither, according to reliable sources, is even in India — both are believed to be living abroad with their mother, Sangeetha.

Sangeetha, Vijay’s estranged wife, is reportedly based in the UK, managing her family business and holding British citizenship. Divorce proceedings are said to be ongoing in court, with the two living separately — a quiet storm behind the grand political victory.

Then came the Instagram moment that set social media on fire. Jason Sanjay — son of Tamil Nadu’s newest political king — reportedly unfollowed his father on the very day Vijay’s election victory was confirmed. No caption needed. The internet filled in the blanks.

Jason is no stranger to the spotlight. He appeared alongside Vijay in the song ‘Naan Adichaa’ from the 2009 film ‘Vettaikkaaran’ as a child. But the superstar’s son has since chosen a very different path — one firmly behind the camera.

A screenwriting graduate from London and a diploma holder in production from the Toronto Film School, Jason politely turned down a role offered by acclaimed ‘Premam’ director Alphonse Puthren. He had bigger plans — as a director, not an actor.

Jason is currently directing his debut film ‘Sigma’, with actor Sandeep Kishan in the lead role. The film has completed shooting and is expected to release in 2026 — a milestone his father’s political win has now inadvertently overshadowed.

Meanwhile, the rumours refuse to die down. Sangeetha is said to have alleged in her divorce complaint that Vijay’s relationship with a star actress was the reason for the separation — with social media pointing squarely at Trisha. Vijay’s public appearances with Trisha, and her reported visit to Tirupati on the day of his election victory, have only added fuel.

A father wins an election. His son unfollows him. His daughter stays silent. His wife is abroad. And the woman the internet won’t stop talking about visited a temple. Thalapathy Vijay may have conquered Tamil Nadu — but the story inside his own home remains very much unresolved.
