Two more TNEB officials suspended for green power project approval irregularities

Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has suspended two more engineers in connection with the suspected irregularities in granting multi-crore worth approvals for wind and solar projects.Superintendent engineer RG Prasad and executive engineer K Radhakrishnan of non-conventional energy sources wing of the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation have been placed under suspension.The suspension comes after their office in Udumalpet was closed recently. Electricity minister R Nirmalkumar on Monday said the office was misused by brokers to get approvals for wind and solar projects. “Only the signatures were by officers, the rest was all taken care of by brokers. Hereafter, all approvals will be done at the headquarters,” he said.The board has already suspended a chief engineer, NCES, and a chief financial controller for the alleged role in irregularities in connection with granting approval for solar and wind projects.
