U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that Iran’s heavily fortified Pickaxe Mountain nuclear complex could face a “big fat shot” near its main entrance, reigniting debate over whether America can strike one of Iran’s most protected underground facilities. Located near Natanz in central Iran, Pickaxe Mountain is widely believed to house deeply buried nuclear infrastructure and has reportedly remained untouched during Operation Midnight Hammer and Operation Epic Fury. Analysts say the mountain’s depth, reinforced tunnel networks and unknown internal layout make it one of the most difficult military targets in the world. Experts believe any operation would likely involve repeated strikes on tunnel entrances, attacks on shallow underground passages, continuous ISR surveillance and potentially other high-risk military options.
