A customer from Gurugram has sparked a debate online after claiming that a premium party costing over Rs 1.4 lakh turned into a disappointing experience, alleging repeated power cuts, leaking ACs, delayed food service and poor coordination at a popular microbrewery.

The incident came to light through a now-viral Reddit post, where the organiser detailed what was supposed to be a premium celebration for around 40 guests but instead became, according to them, a series of avoidable mishaps.

According to the post, the group had booked a “Tipsy Package” priced at approximately Rs 3,500 per person, bringing the total cost of the event to around Rs 1.4 lakh. Given the price and the size of the gathering, the organiser said they expected a seamless experience. However, they claimed the venue failed to deliver on those expectations.

Describing the problems encountered during the event, the customer wrote, “The AC vents were leaking water throughout the event, creating a slipping hazard. It was also terribly hot inside because of this AC malfunction. They even had an electricity malfunction for about 5 times during 3 hours of the event.”

The organiser further alleged that the food service was poorly managed despite the venue knowing the guest count well in advance. They claimed essential serving bowls were unavailable for dishes such as Dal Makhani and that guests repeatedly had to wait between 15 and 20 minutes for starter refills.

Sharing more details, the customer wrote, “They didn’t even have enough bowls to properly serve dishes like Dal Makhani. The service was painfully slow. Every time the starters finished, guests had to wait 15–20 minutes for refills.

By the time the next batch arrived, people had already lost interest. The food was average at best. Nothing memorable, especially considering the price.”

The Reddit user also claimed that one of the guests fell ill during the party, after which the venue charged an additional cleaning fee. While acknowledging that cleanup may involve extra costs, the organiser argued that such charges should have been communicated in advance, especially for a booking of that scale.

Another major concern, according to the post, was the lack of support from the venue’s event coordinator. The organiser alleged that the individual handling the booking was not present during the event and did not respond to calls when issues began surfacing, leaving them to manage the situation on their own.

Expressing their disappointment, the customer wrote, “I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but when you’re spending over Rs 1.4 lakh on a single event, you expect basic professionalism and service.”

The viral post quickly attracted numerous reactions, with several Reddit users sharing their own opinions and experiences.

“Bro that AC has been broken since April, that place is worthless, suffocating and claustrophobic,” wrote one user.

Another commented, “Moral of the story: Visit and experience a place before you book it for 40 people 👍”

A third user claimed, “These packages are a sham as they slow the service on purpose.”

Sharing a contrasting experience, another Redditor wrote, “I am guessing that was a corporate event and not a personal event? We had done this for 50 people back in 2017 I think, and the place was great, live music, great vibe and great service.

A few months after I personally went there with a few friends and hated the overall experience, not sure what happened. I have hosted many parties in Soi7 after that, and I never had a bad experience, explore options that you think are costly but their packages are negotiable, and experience is superb.”

Another user suggested alternative venues, writing, “Bhai when going for packages, prefer something on Golf Course Rd like La La Land or Opentap. Never really liked Drunken Botanist, just a great name, nothing else!”
